Amy is a master at the blend of structure and flexibility.
Amy is patient, kind, and knows exactly how to talk to students in order to make meaningful and lifelong connections. Her ability to connect with families is immense. Her philosophy on building strong home-school connections is evident in her ability to foster healthy relationships and support for her students and families.
Amy is the most dedicated educator, parent, and advocate for all learners. She is also one of the most knowledgeable educators I have ever met whose knowledge of curriculum is unbelievable. Amy’s passion radiates through her ability to connect with her students, families and colleagues, building meaningful and lifelong relationships.
Amy has the ability to help families articulate the vision they have for their children and, not only bring that vision to the professionals educating the child, but show professionals how they can help support that vision. She is able to see the “big picture,” yet is skillfully able to drill down to the important details...keeping the work student-focused!
I have been a colleague of Amy’s for many years now and have experienced her working with families and professionals, both individually and together. Amy brings her skills as an educator, her strong sense of equity and inclusion, and her creative spirit and vision to the table in every conversation and with every person she meets.
Amy’s dedication to inclusion goes above and beyond; not only because she has a personal connection, but because she always puts the needs of children first and uses her extensive knowledge of curriculum to meet those needs. Amy is a true believer that all children can be successful and that there is no limit to their success.
The slide deck was a huge success. I am recommending you to everyone I know.
As a coach visiting Amy’s classroom many years ago, one example that still stands out to me today was that student who was writing a novel. I loved that, in this classroom, students could go so deep with their projects. I also won’t forget how another student claimed that Rottweilers were the largest dogs in a writing piece, and when peers questioned it, he was able to do the research independently and report his findings to the class and infuse this into his writing. That’s real learning.
Amy is not only a great colleague and educator. She has become a great friend whose values, passion, and commitment surpass any.
I just wanted to let you know that I spoke to my child’s teacher today. I followed the slide deck just like I learned from you. I overcame the fear of telling my true feelings and was able to do so calmly. I was also able to share all the information about my child and about inclusive education with the teacher in an objective way. Thank you for moving me to do things that I didn’t know I could. The teacher even asked me to share it with the team.
