How I Can Help

I provide a variety of consultation, coaching, and product creation services for educators, administrators, families, and community members to support inclusive education. My services and products are paperless, remote, and nationwide.

No matter your experience with inclusive education, I aim to help individuals, groups, and organizations:

  • address fears and misconceptions about inclusive education
  • make supportive and streamlined plans for change, whether we start small or aim big
  • examine what is working and what is getting in the way, in order to get back on track

A Framework for a Collaborative, Inclusive Individualized Education Program (IEP) Process

I have developed an exclusive framework that includes both a product and a process that creates a shift in the entire IEP cycle for students, families, and educators. It is not like anything you have seen!

This process leads to a more meaningful, focused, and supportive blueprint (aka IEP) for a learner's inclusive educational journey because we are leveraging objective information and evidence-based resources (all hyperlinked for the team) to enhance everyone’s understanding of inclusive education and capacity to support the learner.

In this process, I will support you as you learn how to:

  • communicate a clear, inclusive vision
  • promote student empowerment
  • keep a child-centered focus
  • share valuable information and powerful resources
  • create opportunities for collaboration

Once I started this process myself, we have had more collaborative, thoughtful, and smooth meetings. We have avoided surprises along the way too by being proactive and open. Our annual review meeting was brief and celebratory, and I was even able to share a 25-minute video with them about inclusive education, because we worked on the IEP together in advance!

I will coach you how to utilize this process based on your individual needs. We will create a slide deck that serves as a resource for the entire team that we revisit throughout the year and use in IEP development - literally informing the sections of the document to make sure it is individualized and meaningful. And, just like the IEP, it's a living document that will grow with the learner where they can make it their own!

Colleagues that I have shared this with have said things like:

  • It’s like a condensed, easy-to-understand dissertation on inclusive education for the entire IEP team.
  • It’s like a virtual IEP.

Families that I have worked with have said things like:

  • The slide deck was extremely helpful. I am recommending you to everyone I know.
  • I just wanted to let you know that I spoke to my child’s teacher today. I followed the slide deck just like I learned from you. It went well for two reasons. First, I overcame the fear of telling my true feelings and was able to do so calmly. I asked the teacher to even take a more positive look and include strengths and accomplishments when she speaks and writes about my child and she said she would. Second, I was able to share all the information about my child and about inclusive education with the teacher in an objective way. Thank you for moving me to do things that I didn’t know I could. The teacher said this was a really great resource and asked me to share it with her so she could share it with the team.

Universal Crossings Inclusion Club

Universal Crossings Inclusion Club is for everyone with a shared interest in equity, inclusion, and student empowerment!

Consider this a live, membership course in inclusive education and other current issues in disability. Resources will include books, research and other articles, blog posts, guidance documents, evidence-based content from renowned organizations and professionals, and written pieces and videos from self-advocates. I provide a unique lens through which to view these resources so that you can truly use the information in the most effective ways.

The Story Behind Universal Crossings Inclusion Club:

I've worn many hats in education over the last two decades and - in my quest for equity, inclusion, and student empowerment - I've curated an amazing collection of resources and strategies! There are SO many that I can't help but share!

In the past, when I shared this information with both colleagues and parents, they were all extremely thankful, but it was a challenge to digest all at once! So I wanted to create a forum to be able to share things bit-by-bit and be with you to unpack all of the content. I feel that doing this collaboratively will help create deeper understandings and develop more sustainable inclusive practices!

We know we need everyone at the table when it comes to creating the inclusive communities in which we want to live, work, learn, and grow - that's why ALL are welcome!
